Hello Everyone and welcome to OhmWork

Its been a busy few months here @Ohm and we hope you've been just as busy. There are lots of new faults to share with you and many new KITS  have been added, especially for Samsung Power Supplies which were dropping like flies at one stage!

We've also had lots of backlight faults like I'm sure you all have had too.  We purposely built a new workshop to deal with backlight and screen issues. There are 4 new benches which is mainly Andy's domain.  I continue to use the main workshop, which has 5 moveable benches.

As you all probably know the Samsung D5520, D5570 & D6900 range of LCD and Plasma Main boards are suffering from NAND Flash Issues. We supply the NAND flash here, NAND01

We have been having repaorts of different issues after fitting the NAND IC so we have put together a small datasheet, attached, on these issues and how to resolve them in the Service and Customer menus and if you may need extra parts to make a succesfull repair. Go to top

OHM'S WORKSHOP WONDERS:

We have had some strange items sent in for repair these last few months.  Currently on my bench I have a fork Lift Control Panel and an Air Hockey Power Board. Someone phoned today with an arcade machine and obviously we've had about 100 calls over Easter about damaged screens.

Tips and Tricks:

From Mr Brown in Wales: When fitting KIT462 ensure that D208 doesn't short onto the back of the TV when reinserting the Power Board. He spent a good few hours trying to figure out why his board worked on the bench but not in the TV.  Well done Mr Brown!

David from Sendz Components says he recently had a BN44-00787A were the screen has blown the Driver IC's, type SEM5027.  This type of fault is becomming more common, espectially on the Vestels. We will be stocking these IC's next month.

KIT372 / KIT373 Ensure you resolder all of the earthing points and the PCB's and scratch away the metalwork on the TV prior to testing and also screw all of the screws in as it may flash 6 if you don't.

KIT310 A new one for me this week, After fitting KIT310 in the Panasonic TNPA5349 then it runs very hot, Q600 C08N25 TO252 was S/C.

Ken Robertson, (KenRob) as we know him says:

"As Ohmwork goes to print this is a late addition and therefore the job has not yet been completed. This is a YSUS board TNPA53355 from a 50" Panasonic TV (TXP50VT30B) which we removed during the week.  It looks initially like Kit373 is required, and this has been ordered from Ohms.  However, upon quick inspection it was noted that the transistor Q422 (RJP30H2A) has detached itself from the board and has raised like a dead man sitting up! When we looked underneath the transistor we found that there is only a tiny grey area on the back of the heat sync where it has been making solder contact with the board and there is a tiny grey mark on the solder surface itself which appears to correspond with this.  Therefore, we think that this transistor has only been soldered in one place which is extraordinarily unusual for Panasonic.  Looking at the metal heat sync its clear it has been overheating and we assume that the effects of heat have caused it to sit up in the way it has.  Another thing which we found rather unusual was that the heat sync is one of the three connecting pins of the transistor and initially we could not figure out why it was working but it looks as if they are possibly wired in parallel and the set has been running with two of those transistors instead of three.  We expect this to be a straightforward repair however we won't know more until we fit the parts.  We will report back in next month's copy of Ohmwork.

NAND REPLACEMENT REPAIR SERIVCE

MP3394 BACKLIGHT DRIVER IC VESTEL.  It is becomming increasingly common after repairing the backlights on the Vestel screens to find that the driver IC is also faulty on the Power   Supply.  Common boards are the 17IPS20 but Ian Haywood has had issues with the 17IPS71 too.

3V LG LED'S, (LED11) , are by far the most common LED we sell, closely followed by the 6V VERSION LED, (LED25)

SB5100 and SB5150 diodes are big sellers along with the AS15 TCON IC of which we also have a AS15F Tcon repair service.  We also stock the ISL9860 T-Con Ic and again have a T-Con Repair Service RUNTK5351TP0055FV.

When we look at the things we sell the most of, there are peeks and troughs in different types of repairs.  One engineer told me its because of               Tropospheric Ducting, you know who you are Ivan! Ivan has promised to       explain what this is in the next OhmWork.

Anyway some weeks we just can't keep up with, EEPROM and SOFTWARE faults then they fall off and the faulty Power Supplies will appear! Troposheric Ducting is one theory, let us know yours!

WE HAVE HUGE RANGE OF SEMICONDUCTORS AND CAPAICTORS IN STOCK, EVERYTHING WE USE IN OUR WORKSHOP IS WHAT WE LIST.  IF WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING IN STOCK PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL.

UK Shipping charges are free on orders over £20.00 to the UK and  £1.99 for order unders £20.00.

Our full range of kits are also available in the, ASWO SHOP

Talking of ASWO we had a visit from Edward Hoyle this week.  It was good to put a face to a voice.  Edward is in charge of the UK side of ASWO and for those of you who use the engineers forum, EURAS, then you will know Edward as he is always available for any       issues you may have, or just to say thank you too :)
